| Weird freezing of desktop, probably due to intel chipset and driver Dec 19th 2012, 08:13 Desktop freezes at random. Seems to also freeze when prompting login after display sleeps. Seems to freeze during a reboot as well, causing me to hard power the laptop. This is a Toshiba Satellite. I suspect the culprit is the integrated video chipset. Based on some research I think its possibly loading the wrong driver. It seems to be loading the 'i915' driver, where other source would indicate that 'intel' driver would be appropriate. So far it seems to work fine when booted in failsafe mode, but with very impacted graphical performance. Weren't it for this issue, this machine would be the most immaculately performing machine I've ever rehabilitated.
