I have cloned my perfectly working Dual Boot Win XP Home/SuSe 8.2 hard drive to a larger hard drive using Acronis True Image 2013. Clone executed without errors. Upon booting for first time on new HD I get the SuSe Splash screen with booting preferences EXACTLY as it appeared on old hard drive. If I choose to boot into SuSe system boots perfectly and operating system has all settings, programs, files, etc. as original HD. SuSe Clone works perfectly.
My problem is if I choose to boot into Windows XP I get a black screen that reads:
root (hd0,0)
filesystem type is fat, partition type0xc
chainloader +1
NTLDR is missing
press any key to restart
So, I boot back into SuSe and open my files in C/Windows and I see the NTLDR file along with the other "hidden" files that are typically required with WinXP.
As a precaution, I also put in my original WinXP install disc and did a Fix MBR as well as a "Repair" in recovery console. Unfortunately, I still got the same error message upon reboot fixing the XP MBR did not solve my XP boot problem. As a result of doing the Fix MBR in Windows, the computer would not boot at all so I had to reinstall my GRUB MBR using my SuSe install disc. System is back to where I get the SuSe Boot menu and can boot into SuSe fine but get the same error message when I try to boot into WinXP.
I am pretty sure the XP Clone is there and working fine but I just can't get WinXP to boot or SuSe to recognize XP's MBR. I have spent so much time trying to fix this it would have been less time consuming to just do a fresh XP and SuSe install instead of the clone. Any suggestions for a cure would be most appreciated. Thanks in advance.
