Kwin using 100% cpu, how to deal with this sort of things? Aug 24th 2012, 09:10 Hello all, I've been 'playing' with opensuse lately on my laptop, with no previous linux experience. (ms since dos) Last night I installed 12.2, it worked fine, then I followed this guide http://forums.opensuse.org/content/127-multimedia-restricted-formats-installation-guide-12-2.html This caused terminal to ask about which version to keep twice: (maybe not related to problem) Code: zypper in libdvdcss2 vlc libxine1-codecs k3b-codecs ffmpeg lame  gstreamer-0_10-ffmpeg gstreamer-0_10-plugins-bad  gstreamer-0_10-plugins-ugly gstreamer-0_10-plugins-ugly-orig-addon  w32codec-all MPlayer smplayer gstreamer-0_10-plugins-good libxine1  libdvdplay0 libdvdread4 libdvdnav4 xine-ui libmad0 ffmpeg sox  libxvidcore4 xvidcore libavcodec52 libavdevice52 libvlccore4 libvlc5 lsb  pullin-flash-player flash-player gstreamer-0_10-ffmpeg  gstreamer-0_10-fluendo-mp3 gstreamer-0_10-fluendo-mpegdemux  gstreamer-0_10-fluendo-mpegmux gstreamer-0_10-plugins-base  gstreamer-0_10-plugins-good-extra k3b vlc-aout-pulse libquicktime0  gstreamer-0_10-plugins-bad-orig-addon gecko-mediaplayer After restart I have massive lag, kwin using 100% cpu. killing the process seemed like good idea, but then I noticed that it was linux equivalent of 'explorer.exe' :-P Reboot didn't help either. It was fresh install so easiest fix was installing 12.2 again, which I did. But now the questions: What would have been the right way to deal with problem? What had happened if I uninstalled kwin in yast? (would if offer some older version instead or just remove it and leave system 'broken')
