OpenSUSE Tumbleweed
Hi all!
I just installed a VM test environment upgrading openSUSE 12.2 to Tumbleweed using Swerdna's step-by-step (
http://forums.opensuse.org/content/5...umbleweed.html) and everything worked fine.
But I was wondering why my sysinfo even after a couple of restarts continues identifying as 12.2 and not as TW (KDE showed an upgrade form 4.8.5 to 4.9.5). So, my first question is if the system is really TW although not identifying itself as TW.
The second point is about updates and Apper as I understood that the correct way to update is the zypper -dup command. But always when I log in, Apper informs me about some possible updates. I usually kill the Apper process in order to use zypper performing the update. Therefore I'd like to know if there is a possibility to deactivate Apper as it seams to be useless for TW. But if I do so, I'll probably won't be informed about possible updates and have to start each session with zypper -dup. So, I'd like to know form you guys how you get informed of updates and how you handle them.
